SCENIC MIND SCULPTURE

  This little plastic frame came from the local thrift and is about 8" tall. I cut an oval out of a piece of 2x10 and backed it with some lauan to make a shadow box. The figure is Super Sculpey. The guitar is luan, toothpicks, and thread. 

Moon faces made awhile back with various mortar recipes. Most have held up well. I've settled on a recipe using 5 parts sand, 3 parts clay, 2 parts Portland cement, and 3 parts builder's lime. Sometimes I add a small gob of asphalt emulsion. Maliable and durable for outside.   

  This is another older piece, but one that I love. She is Super Sculpey over a copper wire armature. I started using 6 - 8 AUG  copper ground wire for armature way back when because it was available at the big box hardware stores. It was cheaper and more available than aluminum wire at the time and, of course, easier to manipulate than steel wire. The arms are ususally thinner aluminum wire.  She is about eleven inches tall. 

I made this one a while back to celebrate Halloween. It was really a first effort at building a little scene around a sculpture. The figure is made, of course, of Super Sculpey over copper wire. The scenery, including the stone, is Sculpey Air Dry Clay. Brush painted with acrylics. It was just fun to make. 

These are about 9-11 inches long, made of Super Sculpey over copper or steel wire and brush painted with acrylics. Just fun.
